Referees & Scoreboard Operators

EYSA is always looking for officials and scoreboard operators to help support our youth sports programs. These are paid positions, although high school students may choose community service credit instead of pay.

Enroll as an Official

In TeamSideline, officials enroll under the “Volunteer” option even though these positions may be paid.

How to Get Started
1. Create Your TeamSideline Account
If you do not already have your own TeamSideline account, create one here . Former EYSA players must create their own account rather than registering through a parent’s account.
2. Enroll as a Volunteer
Select the appropriate official or scoreboard position during enrollment. These roles may be paid even though TeamSideline lists them under Volunteer. If you do not have a driver license or ID number, enter X's in the required field.
3. Complete Concussion Certification
Complete the required concussion certification. It generally takes about 15 minutes.
4. Complete Cardiac Awareness
Review and complete the required Sudden Cardiac Arrest information. It generally takes about 10 minutes.
5. Watch for Scheduling Information
Once your enrollment and requirements are complete, the Director of Game Officials will provide training, availability, and scheduling information.

What Game Officials Do

Game officials help officiate EYSA sports including soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball. Officials are paid, with rates varying by sport and role. High school students may also choose to volunteer for community service credit. Contact the Director of Game Officials for additional information.

Expectations & Responsibilities
✓ Know and enforce the rules of the game.
✓ Maintain a professional and confident demeanor.
✓ Help manage the pace of play.
✓ Prioritize the safety of players and spectators.
✓ Interact respectfully with coaches, families, players, and teams.
✓ Take responsibility for the field or facility as directed before and during assigned games.
Scheduling & Attendance
• Officials report directly to the Director of Game Officials.
• The Director of Game Officials coordinates scheduling and communication.
• Officials must notify the Director of Game Officials if they cannot attend an assigned game.
• Missing a scheduled game without notice may result in removal from future assignments.
• Assignment and coverage information will be communicated before scheduled games.
